Duma to get bill on mining with cbank, Fin Ministry’s views soon
MOSCOW, Oct 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, will soon receive a bill on mining taking into account the position of the central bank and the Finance Ministry, Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the house’s information policy committee, said on Thursday on Telegram.
“According to my information, the State Duma will soon get a more elaborated document that accounts for the opinions of the central bank and the Finance Ministry and does not threaten the ruble as the only means of payment on the territory of the country,” Gorelkin said.
The State Duma rejected on Wednesday in the first reading a bill on mining submitted by deputies from the New People faction.
Gorelkin said the rejection does not mean that the legal status of cryptocurrencies will not be established. The new version will include propositions on cross-border crypto payments and give legal grounds for the development of the national cryptocurrency infrastructure.
